6 Days Zanzibar Island Holiday itinerary.
Day 1: Airport/seaport arrival.
Meet and greet with your guide on arrival at Abeid Amani international airport of Zanzibar and transfer to your hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at your booked resort hotel. Depending on the time you have after arrival, you may visit the Forohahi gardens in the evening to relax and chill from a long flight.
Day 2: Stone Town tour.
Following breakfast, you will enjoy the epic highlights of Stone town including the Palace Museum and next the House of Wonders where you will interact with the people sitting as if they inherited the art from the generations of sultans.
Thereafter, go for a market bazaar walking tour where you expect to find the sultans still cross-legged and jeweled on their seats. Mostly the market stalls and shops sell clothes, jewelry and much more. You will see the amazing life of Zanzibar, as Arab, Indian and Swahili traders rush with no glory except their situation. As you walk through the sideways of the market you are interrupted by heavy traffic and lots of pedestrians. Lunch at a rooftop restaurant and continue to the visit the former slave market that was turned into a church. Dinner and overnight at a resort of your choice.
Day 3: Spice plantation tour and Nungwi beach.
After breakfast, transfer north-west of Stone town to Nungwi about 2-hour drive. Along the way you will visit different spice farms with a guide. Walking around this place lasts for about 1 hour and at the end you can go tasting fresh coconut juice and purchase some spices at the spice shops.
Learn about the different spices, herbs and fruits and how they are used as natural healing medicine. Take lunch and visit the prison island as you proceed to Nungwi beach. A visit at Prison Island lasts for about 4 hours and involves a historical tour of the slave trade prisons, coral reef mines and fun filled time to see, feed and take pictures with giant turtles including the oldest at 159 years. Day 4: Full day at the beach.
Following hot breakfast, you will choose what to do among the activities available – water sports include snorkeling, boat sailing and scuba diving. Lunch, dinner and overnight at the beach.
Day 5: Nungwi to Jozani forest.
Enjoy breakfast and watch the sun set at the beach. Then transfer on a 2-hour drive to Jozani-Chakwa Bay National Park which features Jozani tropical forest, home of the red colobus monkeys. Arrive before midday and settle for lunch. Later you will take Jozani forest tour looking for monkeys and birds. The tour gets you into the flora and fauna in the vicinity of Zanzibar islands.
Day 6: Departure.
Following breakfast, you will leave Nungwi and transfer back to Stone town and to the airport / seaport which marks the end of your 6 Days Zanzibar Island Holiday.
