Our 9 Days Uganda Primates Safari takes you to track chimpanzees in Kibale Forest National Park, a tour of Queen Elizabeth National Park, Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi among other Uganda tourist destinations.
Day 1: Visit to the Ngamba Orphaned Chimpanzee Island
You will be picked from your hotel then transfer to Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (the Zoo). Before taking a boat to Ngamba Islands you will have opportunity that is included in the program to view various wild animals that has been sampled out here representing different National parks in Uganda. Later you will get a briefing, after you will take a boat ride to the Island. On arrival to Ngamba Island, you will be greeted by the duty caregiver of the Chimpanzees and then proceed to view the feeding as you take photograph. In the afternoon, return back to Entebbe where your hotel is for dinner and over night.
Day 2: Entebbe – Kibale Forest National park including Bigodi Swamp
Drive to Kibale NP after breakfast through Mubende road and have a lunch en route to arrive in the afternoon. Go for a late evening walk a long Bigodi swamp to search for variety of bird species like the White-winged Warbler, primates and many more not forgetting the flora. Dinner and night.
Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest National park
After your early morning breakfast, transfer to Kanyankyu tourists Centre at 0800 hours for a briefing to prepare you for a Chimpanzee walk. The guide will then lead you on an informative walk regarding the habitats in this wonderful tropical forest while searching for the major chimpanzees, including other habitats as red-tailed monkey, black-and-white colobus monkeys, Mangabeys, L’Hoest monkeys, and many others primates, luckly you might also spot forest elephants in here. Return for lunch, then drive to Amabere Nyinamwiru for caves and crater walk. The walk will enable you stretch for the sitting that has made you more tired. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Transfer from kibale Forest – for a game viewing safari in Queen Elizabeth national park
Drive to Queen Elizabeth, on arrive enter straight to the crater area that includes dry and wet Lakes proceed t Mweya Peninsular if your accommodation is here for lunch. The drive from Kibale National Park or Fort portal great as you will enjoy the views of the highest mountain in Africa, the Rwenzori Mountains also known as the “Mountains of the moon” because of its snore cap via the town of Kasese, A game drive en route gives you the opportunity to spot waterbucks, warthogs, most likely the Elephants as they move to drink some water on the lake Bank, and other wildlife, Lunch shall be served here at you lodge. Then there will be a brief gave drive at 1600hrs, return later for Dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Activities in Queen Elizabeth National Park
Go for a game drive early in the morning after breakfast to search for animals like lions, buffaloes, elephants, and other wild animals in their natural habitat, before returning for lunch. In the afternoon transfer for a boat Ride along the Kazinga Channel, a natural water Channel that links Lake George and Lake Edward. Opportunity to see many crocodiles, hippos, buffaloes, elephants drinking water along the shores and many birds around, Retire to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: chimpanzee tracking activity in the kyambura game reserve- Bwindi National Park
After breakfast you will be driven towards Bwindi national Park, however before that head early in the morning through the beautiful savannah grassland and acacia thorn tree before you arrive to a sudden gorge of a hundred meters deep, sheltered with tropical rainforest. You will take hike into the gorge that has a river to the wild chimpanzees enjoying the cool forest named after this river Kyambura. Have your picnic lunch and drive via Ishasha sector while list you might spot the tree climbing lions on a tree that are resting on a tree branches after enjoying their hunt, continue to Bwindi National Park arrive in the evening to check in then, dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable Forest National Park
This day is gorilla tracking, that starts at 7:45am you will receive a pre-briefing and at 8.30am you will start the gorilla trek. The guides will then take you through the bush pushing your way through the undergrowth, parting thick creepers, to track the gorillas. (This trek can take from half an hour to 5 hours – a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes) Sit in the forest among the gorillas, Lunch shall be served at your accommodation; If you have the energy this afternoon, take a guided walk that will take you through briefing from the guide before heading to the village / cultural walk that is managed by the local community and the proceeds received here are ploughed into the community to improve on their welfare (your are encouraged to donate to help the communities).
The walk introduces you to a number of interesting sites such as a typical rural homestead, a visit to the local traditional healer, banana beer brewing demonstration site and to the Orphanage school, continue the walk to the Pygmies known here as the Batwa, return to visit some engraving handicraft shops opportunity to buy some souvenirs. Return later to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: from Bwindi National Park – Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, depart Bwindi to Lake Mburo National Park. Have a stop over in Mbarara for Lunch and proceed to Lake Mburo have a game drive while entering the park. Lake Mburo National Park is a savannah park and has marked different fauna to other parks and Reserves, it is the best place in the country to see the gigantic Eland Antelope, as well as Zebra, Top, Impala, and several Acacia associated birds.
The five Lakes within the park attract Hippos, Crocodiles, and a variety of water birds, while fringing swamps hide secretive papyrus specialists such as the sitatunga Antelope and red, Black and yellow papyrus Gonalek. Have an evening game drive and overnight.
Day 9.Lake Mburo National Park – Kampala
After breakfast return to Kampala while enjoying the scenery, Lunch in Masaka town, stop overs at the Equator for photos and performs earths magnetic pull experiments, transfer to the Airport or overnight stay at Hotel.
