Safari day by day
Day 1: Pick up from Kigali Airport and Drive to Bwindi Forest
Upon arrival, our driver-guide will welcome you before heading to brief you about the whole trip; activities and what you need to expect. The driver will first start the journey by touring with you the city of Kigali, visiting the Kigali genocide memorial site and then proceeding to Uganda on a 4-hour drive while crossing the scenic Katuna border, and feeding your eyes with the views of Virunga mountain, fascinating water bodies way through to Kabale before checking into Bwindi Impenetrable forest.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Cultural Encounter
Upon finishing your early morning breakfast, the driver guide will drive you to the sector quarters where you trek the primates. When you reach, join fellow gorilla trekkers on the same mission for a pre-trekking meeting as the officials will be verifying document to confirm if they are authentic.
Depending on your age, interest, and fitness, the guide will allocate you to the most suitable group of your choice before accompanying you to the jungle in quest for these relatives with 98% human DNA. The trekking time is dependent on how far the primates have gone, but upon meeting them, you will be given one hour to study them, take photos and so much more.
Note that you have to keep the 7meter distance from the Gorillas, don’t turn on your flashlight as you take photos, and avoid looking straight at the eyes of Gorillas. Have picnic lunch then proceed to have an encounter with the Batwa pygmies who have lived a life of wondering and as gatherers; they have sweet stories to tell all visitors.
Day 3: Exploring Lake Bunyonyi
After early morning breakfast, our driver-guide will embark on a journey to Lake Bunyonyi for refreshment moment as you enjoy the sweet melodies from the nearby trees as well as the beautiful sight of the nearby islands.
Upon reaching, you will check in to your lodge, have lunch and after, get into a canoe and visit the islands as the captain tells you the interesting stories concerning the different islands. You will be taken to Punishment Island, a place where all those found fornicating were taken for punishment, others burnt to death. Thereafter, return and enjoy the atmosphere of the place, taking photos while enjoying the sunset views.
Day 4: Return to Kigali
Upon finishing having a very hefty relaxed breakfast, undertake an optional early morning birding safari before the driver guide can drive you back to Kigali for return journey.
