In Murchison Falls National Park, there are two methods to experience the mighty Nile. Tourists take the boat journey up the Victoria Nile waters to the bottom of the thundering falls from the Paraa pier and climb up from Baker’s rock to Fagio Gorge to watch the falls from above.

The other boat tour departs from Paraa jetty and travels down the calm Nile waters to the papyrus-filled delta. This is where the Nile meets Lake Albert before splitting off to the north. The Nile Delta boat excursion is located twenty kilometers downstream from the Paraa jetty in Murchison Falls National Park. Boat cruise to the Bottom of Murchison Falls

The boat cruise to the bottom of Murchison Falls, the world’s most powerful waterfall, is the most popular activity in the park. The trip also begins from the Paraa jetty and cruises up the Nile, passing through a show of stunning wildlife along the Victoria Nile river banks before docking at Baker’s Rock for those who want to walk up Murchison Falls.

The River Nile gashes out roughly 300 cubic meters per second (11,000 ft3/s) of water through a tiny gouge less than 10 meters (33 ft) wide at the peak of Murchison Falls, generating 50-metermeter broad splashes and a constant rainbow. The raging water then cascades over the falls and back onto the Nile path, where it flows quietly down the Victoria Nile. Guests may pause at the base to watch this amazing scene unfold, which is surrounded by hippo pods, or trek up the cliff to see the spectacle from above.

Murchison Falls launch tours typically depart at 0900 and 1400. We may also organize a private boat excursion up the Nile for a sundowner or breakfast cruise. The boat cruise might last between three and four hours.

Apoka Rest Camp features a vast and open property that is popular for camping. Game drives are the most popular of the activities in Kidepo Valley National Park. Narus Valley is where most drives take place because many wild animals congregate here, especially in March. Tourists usually have a clear view because the savannah grassland at the park is low due to a lack of rain, and the lions and other big cats are mostly seen on the rocks of kopjes looking for food. The game drive is best in the morning because most wild animals are looking for food. Some game drives can be organized for afternoon and night. Kasubi tombs:

This is where fallen Buganda Kingdom rulers are buried. The Buganda monarchs’ graves occupy over 30 hectares of hillside inside the Kampala district. The old palace of the Kabakas of Buganda, completed in 1882 and transformed into the royal burial cemetery in 1884, stands at its heart on the summit. Four royal graves are presently housed within the Muzibu Azaala Mpanga, the main structure, which is round and topped by a dome. It is a significant example of organic architectural achievement in wood, thatch, reed, wattle and daub. The fundamental significance of the place, however, is found in its intangible aspects of religion, spirituality, continuity, and identity.

Nakasero Market:

You will also have the opportunity to visit Uganda’s local marketplaces. The right Reverend McKay encouraged the then Kabaka of Buganda to organize the first market in the Lubiri in January 1895. (Palace). The market was relocated to Kabugube in 1905 as a temporary building. A large range of fresh fruits and vegetables, primarily local to Uganda, may be found here. A lower market across the street sells spices, beans, cereals, and handcrafted household products. This market is bordered by a multitude of stores, known as dukas, that sell everything for the home. The location is surrounded by hardware, sanitary ware, and electrical stores.

Owino Market

The owino market is one of the largest in African. Everything at Owinio starts low and gets cheaper as you negotiate. If you’re looking for souvenirs, go to the Buganda Road artisan market or the somewhat bigger crafts market behind the national theater in the Garden City complex. If you need garments stitched, there are a number of tailors on Buganda Rd. across the street from the artisan market. If you’re tired of shopping, the (upscale) café 1000 Cups of Coffee is a great place to unwind.

Rubaga Hill

Rubaga hill was the principal palace of Kabaka Muteesa I, who ruled Buganda from 1856 until 1884. The palace was destroyed by lightning and rebuilt on nearby Mengo Hill. Frenchmen, Father Pierre Lourdel Monpel and Brother Amans, were the first Roman Catholic missionaries to come in Buganda in 1879 and resided near the hill. As the Catholic Church established itself in the area, the missionaries were given property on Lubaga Hill. St. Mary’s Cathedral on Lubaga Hill was built between 1914 and 1925 with financial contributions from Roman Catholic communities across the world. On the hill, the missionaries later erected a hospital and a nursing school.

Namirembe Cathedral

Mengo Hill, home to the traditional (the biggest of Uganda’s traditional monarchy). The hill climbs 1,260 meters (1,134 ft) above sea level. It is located next to Mengo Hill, the official seat of the Buganda government. Geographically, politically, and spiritually, the two hills’ histories are interwoven. Namirembe is the site of St. Paul’s Cathedral, which served as the major place of worship for the Anglican Church in Uganda from its construction (1915 to 1919) until the 1960s, when it became the seat of the Diocese of Namirembe. At the time, the Church of Uganda’s offices were relocated to All Saints Church in Nakasero. Since the conclusion of the religious battles in the 1890s, the Anglican Faith has been the faith most closely linked with the Buganda Monarchy.

Kabaka’s Lake

Visit the Kabaka’s lake (Kayanja Ka Kabaka),which was dug up on the instructions of the dictator Sekkabaka Mwanga (also a former King), who wanted it as an escape route as well as a site for water sports directly close to his kingdom capital – Mengo.

Brief History

The organization After the extinction of all white rhinos in Uganda as a result of the 1970s warfare in northern Uganda, which led in widespread kills of wild animals in the national parks of Kidepo and Murchison Falls, the sanctuary prospered. Poachers and hunting for ivory of rhinos in Uganda has accelerated the animal’s extinction. In 2005, the Ziwa rhino sanctuary was established, paving the path for the restoration of white rhinos into Uganda. The rhino fund Uganda, which also brought rhinos back to Uganda, began the rhino sanctuary project.

The rhino sanctuary began with six (6) rhinoceros, rose to 19 animals in 2015, and now has 35 rhinos available to be monitored by visitors to the rhino sanctuary. To be clear, the white rhino conservation project at Ziwa rhino sanctuary is only achievable because the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and Ziwa ranchers collaborate with the Rhino Fund of Uganda to carry out the plans.

The rhino sanctuary also includes other species that you will love viewing throughout your visit. The sanctuary features over 40 animal species, including antelopes, hippos, crocodiles, and monkeys, to name a few. It also has a large variety of bird species, making it a popular destination for birders. It is true that you may travel the entire area on foot without worrying about your safety. For protection, the rhino sanctuary has over 65 qualified game rangers who will lead you through your activities.

Activities to do at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

When you visit Ziwa in Nakasongola, you will have enough to do; perhaps it can be your excursion or en-route tour before your safari to Murchison Falls National Park.

Rhino Trekking

Rhino tracking is the main activity at the rhino sanctuary; in fact, the rhinos are the refuge’s face. During rhino tracking at Ziwa rhino sanctuary, you get the opportunity to view the endangered rhinos on foot and observe them from a safe distance of around 6 meters. You will be able to photograph the rhinos while they dine on the grass and learn a lot about their behaviors.

Birding

Technically, the big five wildlife safari in Uganda is obtained by combining the rhino trek in Ziwa rhino sanctuary with the Murchison Falls National Park safari. Birding is another another pastime that visitors to the refuge enjoy. The sanctuary is home to around 350 bird species. Birding may be done on a guided nature walk or a boat excursion as a half or full day activity in the sanctuary. The Best Way to Get to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

The Ziwa rhino sanctuary is located in the nakasongola area, next to Nakitoma village, in the north-eastern part of Kampala. The ziwa rhino sanctuary is not a vast region; it is located on a small piece of land roughly 70 square kilometers north east of Kampala, Uganda’s capital city. It is only a three-hour trip from Kampala to the sanctuary through the gulu highway, which is really half way to Murchison Falls National Park.

What to Expect on a White water Rafting Trip in Jinja

A day of whitewater rafting begins with an early morning breakfast before being taken to the river’s banks. All participants must leave valuables and dry clothes in the car with staff. The teams are instructed on safety and what to expect. The introduction is overseen by guides who are quite informed about the region and rapids. They go through every area of safety to ensure that all rafters have the greatest experience possible. Other subjects discussed include how to grab the rope for safety, how to paddle, and how to properly exit the raft.

If participants trip while holding their breath, they are instructed to stay as cool as possible. Always bring extra underwear and dry clothing when traveling. Choose clothing that dry quickly because you will be in and out of the water frequently.

Individuals are given the option of taking an easy or challenging path before the activity begins. Those who are not prepared for Grade 4 and 5 rafting might choose Grade 3 rafting. Families can choose a calmer family float excursion that allows them to appreciate the river while avoiding the big rapids. All participants must sign a paper detailing any medical conditions. You cannot go rafting if you have hypertension or anemia.

The activity can begin once the orientation is completed and the helmets and rain coats are attached. The first mile or two allows the guides to adequately prepare all participants before the rapids get stronger and more magnificent downstream. When you approach the next rapid, the guides organize for a vote on whether to take the simple path (edges) or the difficult route (middle).

If the majority chooses the difficult path, there is little you can do but prepare for the challenge. The experienced rafters are escorted to the most dangerous portion of the currents and allowed to tip over. If the team leader is leading a group of novice people, he or she will approach each rapid at the weakest/easiest point so that they do not trip. If the novice party comes upon a major rapid, they exit their rafts and walk around it. Each rapid provides a unique experience that is largely dependent on how the lead guide navigates.

The main route has nine major rapids, four of which are grade 5. As you travel downstream, the rapids get stronger and faster. In between the rapids, there are calm waterways and islands where participants may rest, swim, have lunch, and take in the breathtaking view. A full day of whitewater rafting may cover up to 26 kilometers.  Expect to see folks fishing and drying their clothes by the river. The Jinja River is a birder’s dream, with over 100 species. Perceptive watchers may even detect vervet monkeys dangling from the branches of trees along the riverbank. Following the exercise, a small party is held at which participants are given free beverages and transportation back to the lodge.

Is it safe to go white water rafting in Jinja, Uganda?

Because the crew is highly trained and skilled in negotiating the rapids, whitewater rafting is completely safe. It is critical to follow the advice of the guides for your safety and enjoyment. Participants are provided with life jackets and protective helmets in case they trip. To avoid stumbling, grasp on to the ropes around the raft or bring your legs to your chest each time you plunge beneath the waves.

The Nile has deep waters, so there is no need to be concerned about falling on rocks. Because the threat from the rocks is minor, the guides in Jinja are more ready to let the rafts roll over numerous times.

Furthermore, multiple rescue teams in Kayaks travel ahead of the group with the objective of rescuing any trapped rafters. The rescue squad is also in charge of transporting food and fresh fruit for consumption during the major break. Aside from the rescue kayaks, there are also safety boats that transport people who no longer want to participate. The rafts for families with smaller children and teens do not travel over the most challenging and dangerous rapids. To explore the woodlands, they choose an alternative path, going over lesser rapids and picturesque islands.

Jinja, and Uganda in general, is a wonderful destination to explore the splendor of Africa. Apart from the tranquility of the town, travelers are drawn to Jinja by the Nile and Lake Victoria. After exploring Uganda’s national parks, the calm town is ideal for leisure and recuperation. The Nile River provides some of the most adrenaline-pumping sports on the planet, including bungee jumping, quad biking, horseback riding, and whitewater rafting, the focus of this article. Whitewater rafting is a fantastic sport that teaches you how to be cool under pressure. The opportunity to experience whitewater rafting on the world’s longest river is incredible. How to Get There

It takes some effort or money to get there, but it is well worth it. Tribal conflict, cattle raiding, and poor road conditions have hitherto kept Kidepo Valley National Park secluded and unvisited. Fortunately, the tables have turned today. The park, on the other hand, remains a Lost Eden, a destination that everyone recommends but few visit.

Visit to Karamojong Village

A fascinating look at the warrior tribe’s way of existence. The term Karamojong is taken from a word that means ‘the old folks can no longer walk’. This tribe, originally from Ethiopia, settled in the north-east of Uganda. This is a warrior nomad tribe related to the Maasai, for whom livestock were pride and prestige for millennia, and cow robberies were the norm. However, since the disarmament, things have cooled down. Cattle is still king, although subsistence farming has grown in popularity.
