The tour will enable you to experience the life of the local people in Rwanda through visiting the local market of Gisenyi and the tea plantations of Rubavu district with a magnificent view and rolling highlands that attract different bird species like grey wigged robin chat, purple crested turacos, mountain illadopsis among others. And also enjoy the waters of Lake Kivu as you participate in water sports, kayaking, beach relaxation and speed boating.
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Gisenyi
Upon your arrival at Kigali international airport/after your breakfast at the hotel, you will be briefed by our company representative. Later proceed to Gisenyi Market to encounter the local produce that is sold and explore the locals.
Another option is to drive to Rubavu with well-tarmacked roads that facilitate the movements of tourists. It takes approximately 3 hours to reach Gisenyi and basing on your time of arrival, take a city tour to learn more about the economic, social, historical set up of this city.
Day 2: Tea plantation visit and transfer back to Kigali international airport
On this time of your trip, take a short tour to the plantations of tea as you enjoy the history on how they were introduced in this state and the process from nursery bed to the factory and then to the table.
This activity will take place in Rubavu district where most tea plantations are situated and this is due to the fertile acidic soils that favour the growth of tea.
Also, you will enjoy the magnificent landscape of Congo-Nile drive. The activity can take three hours of adventure take a look of the magnificent view, species of birds as you learn the lifestyle of the tea workers mainly the harvesters. Travel back to Kigali and be dropped at the international airport.
