The 2 Days Congo Gorilla safari from Kigali safari will take you to Virunga National park in Democratic Republic of Congo where you will trek the remaining mountain gorillas. The Virunga ranges are the only destination in the world that harbor the last remaining mountain gorillas. You will have a chance to visit the two countries that is Rwanda and DR Congo.
Details of the itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Virunga NP from Kigali international airport
Upon your arrival in Kigali international airport in Rwanda, you will be briefed about the 2 days’ safari to Virunga by our tour driver guide. He/she will transfer you to Kigali for a short city tour depending on your arrival time.
While here, you will visit the Rwanda genocide memorial where you can be told the history of Rwanda mostly about the liberation wars. Proceed and cross the border to Virunga national park in DR Congo for your accommodation, via Goma boarder.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Virunga NP and transfer back to Kigali
After your breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a short briefing where the park ranger or warden will give you all the information about the park and the gorilla families and you will be assigned to a group of 8 people to trek a gorilla family of these great apes. After 30minutes briefing, the armed ranger guide will lead you to the forest to search for these endangered species. The activity requires someone who is physically fit because it involves hiking.
It will take 2-6hours depending where you locate these apes. You will have an hour of interaction as you see them play, laugh, and nature their babies. You will return to the lodge for your mid lunch and later proceed to Kigali to catch your scheduled flight back home. This will mark the end of the 2 Days Congo Gorilla safari from Kigali.
