The major highlight within these 6 days is the sole encounter with the Mountain Gorillas in their natural habitat and a chance to watch the annual wildebeest migration in Masai Mara reserve – Kenya.
6 Days Rwanda Gorillas and Masai Mara tour itinerary
Day 1: City tour and transfer to Volcanoes NP.
After breakfast at the hotel, our guide who will at the same time be your driver will pick you and drive you through to the city for a short city tour. You will visit the genocide memorial to learn about the tragedy that fell on the Rwandan people in 1994 and how they have recovered from that horrible experience. Other places to visit would be craft markets, Richard Kandt museum, Kigali art museum and so much more. You will then transfer to North-west of Rwanda and arrive at Volcanoes national Park in the evening hours.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes NP.
Your breakfast will be served so early at the lodge and then be transferred to the park headquarters to meet other guests to be briefed together. Park officials will guide you on how to conduct yourselves as you track the mountain Gorillas in the thick forest. You will then hit the jungle to search for habituated Gorillas and after meeting them face-to-face you will be allowed to spend time with them for only one hour. Return to the lodge after this amazing experience.
Day 3: Flight to Nairobi. Overnight stay in Masai Mara National Reserve.
After the morning breakfast you will then drive off to Kigali for about 2 hours and arrive at the airport in time for your flight to Nairobi. Our professional Kenyan safari guide will pick you from Jomo Kenyatta airport and transfer you to Masai Mara wildlife reserve arriving in the evening hours for overnight stay.
Day 4: Masai Mara reserve – Game drive.
You will wake up at leisure and have a relaxed morning at the lodge from the long journey the previous day, have lunch and then launch a game drive to the Masai Mara. Masai Mara wildlife reserve in Kenya is known for its vast variety of animals clearly seen due to its short grass.
Some of the wildlife to look out for include; the famous wildebeest, zebras, elands, Giraffes, Buffaloes lions, leopards, hyenas and the black Rhinos among others. You will then return to your place of accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Second day of game experience in Masai Mara reserve.
After breakfast at the lodge/camp, you will set off for an early morning game drive to explore this vast wildlife reserve. The animals are more active in the morning hours as the feed on the grass and the hunters taking down the weak animals. This game drive is also an opportunity for you to watch the big 5 in one destination.
You will break off for your lunch and return to launch the evening game drive to catchup with the animals you could have missed in the morning. Depending on the time you visit Masai Mara, you will watch the annual famous wildebeest migration. You will then drive back to the lodge for relaxation after a long day of exploring the Masai Mara Wildlife reserve.
Day 6: Drive to Nairobi and Departure.
You will wake up to a delicious breakfast before setting off to return to Nairobi connecting to the airport for departure.
