This trip starts in Kampala Uganda ending in Arusha – Tanzania.

21 Days Grand East Africa Safari detailed itinerary 

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to the hotel

Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, meet and greet your driver guide from our company. He/she will guide you briefly on how the itinerary will flow, which activities to do and when. You will then transfer to your desired hotel in Kampala/Entebbe.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National park

Wakeup early, have breakfast and setoff from Murchison Falls National park located in north western Uganda. You will have a brief stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongora, take some pictures and proceed with the journey to Uganda’s mighty park. The 6-7 hours’ drive via tea farms, banana plantations and local communities make this journey more interesting and fun.

 Day 3: Game viewing & boat cruise to the bottom of the falls

Today, you will explore the beauty of Murchison Falls National park which is Uganda’s oldest and largest National park. Wake up very early and go for guided game viewing to catchup with early risers hunting and browsing/grazing. Expect to see numerus wild animals such as lions, leopards, hyenas, giraffes, Uganda kobs, Elephants, Buffalos, Hippos and Waterbucks among others.

Return to the lodge for late breakfast and wait for hot lunch. In the afternoon, join a boat cruise to the bottom of the mighty Murchison Falls National park. Experience how the strong river waters squeeze through a 7-meter gorge falling 43 meters down to form the might waterfall. You will also witness a permanent rainbow at the bottom of Murchison Falls.  More so, look out to the banks of the river for some birds and water animals seen resting lazily.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forest National park

You may have an optional game drive to see those wild animals you may have missed in the previous day. Have a relaxed breakfast at the lodge, check out and depart from Kibale Forest, the primate capital of East Africa.

Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking &Bigodi wetland

This is a great day for chimpanzee trekking! Rise up very early, have heavy breakfast and with your packed lunch transfer to Kanyanchu Visitor Information Centre for registration and briefing on the dos and don’ts of chimpanzee trekking. The trek to meet these endangered chimpanzees start at 8:00am lasting for between 2-6 hours.

You will spend an hour the chimpanzees, learn their behaviors and have fun with your close relatives.  In the afternoon, go for a guided nature walk in Bigodi wetland, home to many birds and primates.

Day 6:  Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Enjoy your last moments in Kibale Forest National park! You may have a nature guided walk to explore this natural forest on foot. Have a specious heavy breakfast, check out and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park. Spend the rest of the evening at your lodge in QENP.

Day 7: Game viewing & Kazinga channel boat cruise

Rise up very early and transfer to the open plains of Queen Elizabeth National park for game viewing.  You will see lots of wild animals including lions, Elephants, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, Warthogs, lions, leopards, hyenas hippos among others. More so, drive to visit different crater lakes in the park especially Lake Munyanyage for Flamingo birds and Lake Katwe for salt.

In the afternoon, go for a boat cruise at Kazinga channel which connects Lakes Edward and George. A boat cruise is a great chance to see numerous birds and wild animals at the river banks.

Day 8: Lion tracking & community walk

In the early morning, rise up and drive to Kasenyi plains for the experimental lion tracking. With the guide of armed rangers and another team of researchers and veterinary doctors, walk through the plains to see the kings of jungle and how they live their social lives. In the afternoon, visit the local communities near the park especially the fishing villages to learn their traditional dances, way of life and economic livelihood.

Day 9: Ishasha sector – transfer to Bwindi Forest

This is the last day in Queen Elizabeth national Park! Have breakfast, check pout and rive to Ishasha sector in the south of the Park. Ishasha is home to the famous tree climbing lions which make it a not miss on your Uganda safari. Look up in the acacia and fig trees to see the famous lions resting lazily just above you.

You will then drive out of QENP and with enroute lunch drive to Bwindi impenetrable Forest National park via Kihihi – Buhoma route.

Day 10: Mountain gorilla trekking & Batwa community visit

The great day for trekking the endangered mountain gorillas is finally here! You will wake up very early, have breakfast and with your packed lunch transfer to the respective park headquarters. Register with the park officials and attend a brief guide on the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking. At 8:00am, start off a hike up and down hill through the jungle in search of the endangered gorillas.

The trekking time depend on the location of gorillas but ranges between 2 to 7 hours. On meeting the gorilla, Spend an hour in their territory company, as you watch them play, rest, forage and juveniles making noise; take pictures and have fun with your close relatives. In the evening if time allows, visit the Batwa communities to learn and experience their traditional forest life.

Day 11: Drive back to Kampala/Entebbe

Today you will have breakfast, enjoy your last views of Bwindi Forest National park and hit the road for a full day drive to Kampala. The drive is scenic and enjoyable via Kigezi rolling hills and Ankole farms. You will have various stops to buy road side foods and take pictures to make your trip more fun.

Day 12: Fly to Kenya – transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve.

Wakeup on a hot cup of coffee and drive to Entebbe airport for your connecting flight to Nairobi Kenya. On landing in Nairobi, refresh and join our safari guide for a road transfer to Masai Mara National park, Kenya’s top National park and home to vast population of population including the Big 5.

Day 13: Full day game viewing.

Spend this whole day exploring and enjoying the beauty of Masai Mara National park. The park is home to numerous wild animals which include buffalos, Elephants, Lions, Zebras, Cheetahs, Wildebeest, waterbucks, Warthogs, Drive to Mara river where animals gather for drinking water.  Bush breakfast and picnic lunch in the middle of the wilderness make this experience magical.

Day 14: Masai community tour & transfer to Lake Nakuru

In the morning, you will visit the Masai community villages to meet and interact with these indigenous people. Learn about their behaviors, norms and customs. In the afternoon, transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park.

Day 15: Game Viewing & Bird watching

This whole day is for game viewing and bird watching in Lake Nakuru National park. Have a guided game drive to see numerous wild animals that call this park home.  More so, enjoy the scenic views of greater and lesser flamingo birds which inhabit this National Park. It’s after these birds that this park was named Lake Nakuru National Park.

Day 16: Fly to Arusha – Tanzania

Enjoy your morning sleep, have a relaxed breakfast and transfer to Nairobi for your connecting flight to Arusha International Airport.

Day 17: Transfer to Serengeti National park

Have your morning breakfast at the hotel in Arusha and depart for Serengeti National park, through undulating Ngorongoro landscapes infested with vast greenery landscape, plateaus, romantic hills and vibrant homesteads.

Day 18: Full day game viewing & Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

In the early morning, drive to the open plains of Serengeti national park for game viewing. The park is home to lots of wild animals which include lions, Elephants, Zebras, Wildebeests, Giraffes, waterbucks, warthogs, Elands and Topis among others. You will have a bush breakfast and picnic lunch in the wilderness to have a great time with wild animals in their natural habitat. In the evening, transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Day 19: Explore Ngorongoro & transfer to Arusha

Have a morning breakfast and go a guided game drive in Ngororongo Conservation Area. You will see lots of wild animals feeding on the green pastures in the crater. Also, visit the Olduvai Gorge where the remains of world’s oldest man were discovered in 1940s by Dr. Leakey. In the afternoon, drive back to Arusha.

Day 20: Full day in Arusha

Spend this whole day relaxing and chilling at your hotel in Arusha. If you want, go for a city tour in Arusha – northern Tanzania’s most popular and busy capital as well as supporting local businesses by buying crafts and fresh fruits.

Day 21: Departure

Have breakfast at your hotel, check put and drive through Arusha city headed to the airport for your connecting flight. This will mark the end of your 21 Days Grand East Africa Safari.
