10 Days Rwanda Primates & Ngorongoro Crater Safari itinerary 

Day 1: Pickup and Kigali city tour.

Arriving either exhausted or not, the welcoming landscape view of the undulating hills will surely rejuvenated you, and  turn you to the adventure mood, as our driver guide meets and briefs you about what to expect in the 10days exploration of Rwanda; Land of a thousand hills. After a briefing and tasting a lip-smacking juice, a Kigali city tour will commence with a drive to the local markets to purchase a few things, watch locals trade or even exchange you dollars to local currency for easy transactions.

Thereafter, Lunch follows at the city, and then a drive to the Genocide memorial site where you will follow the stories of over 250,000 Hutu and Tutsi members who lost their lives. End then the day at your Hotel around the city with dinner and overnight slumber.

Day 2:  Drive to Nyungwe national park

After a taste of a mouthwatering breakfast meal, you will checkout of the lodge for a drive to Nyungwe national park, home to over 13 unique primate species. The drive is made of undulating hills, flourishing plantations and the local native’s reply of smiles and wave. You will have lunch enroute and then late arrival at the lodge for dinner and a nap.

Day 3: Morning Chimpanzee trekking and Afternoon canopy walk

Start your day with a hefty breakfast, and then head to the park headquarters for registration and briefing by the park rangers. The briefing time is when trackers are told the rules governing the Jungle, to expect while in the search and many more. Tracking time depends on your hiking speed, and the directing the creatures have taken, though in most cases ranges from 1-5 hours, inclusive of the one hour of viewing, asking questions and taking photos.

After the encounter, you will have a Lunch break, followed by relaxed 2 hours on a canopy, on  tree tops; a chance to watch the captivating landscape, enjoy fresh breath, and watch several birds and primates on tree tops, before unwinding the day at the lodge with dinner and an overnight slumber.

Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

After an early morning relaxed breakfast meal, you will need nothing  less than bidding farewell to your new friends, and then embark on an exciting drive to Volcanoes national park; Rwanda’s top travel destination, and home to the endanger mountain gorillas. There will be lunch enroute, before checking into your lodge late in the evening for refreshment, dinner and a slumber.

Day 5: Gorilla tracking and Cultural encounter

Early in the morning, you will enjoy a mouthwatering breakfast meal at the lodge, before transferring the park headquarters for briefing, and document verification. It’s at the briefing where the fun starts, as the rangers tune the heart to the real experience in the wild, through reality stories, and illustrations. Thereafter, they will allocate members to the gorilla families of their choices, before offering accompaniment through the Jungle; a 1-6 hour walk, from where the Apes where last spotted.

Gorillas are very social animals in groups unbothered in their world. Upon finding them, the one extra hour given to you should be for closely watching the mothers breastfeed, silverbacks pose, and the youngsters somersault. Thereafter, you will return to the lodge for Lunch, before either spending the evening resting in the lodge, or heading for cultural vibe with the Rwandese people. End this day with dinner and a nap.

Day 6: Fly to Arusha through Kigali airport.

Leave Volcanoes Park and embark on a transfer back to Kigali.  This is a super interesting drive through romantic hills and terraced slopes.  The drive lasts for about 3 hours to Kigali. Arrive for lunch and in the afternoon, get on a regional flight to connect to northern Tanzania’s capital, Arusha.

Day 7: City tour and transfer to Ngorongoro crater via Olduvai Gorge.

After breakfast, you will enjoy a tasty cup of coffee and then checkout of the lodge for transfer to Ngorongoro crater; home to the largest a caldera in the world. You will first tour the city, with the museum and historical sites topping the priority list.

The journey will proceed, traversing undulating hills and plantations, with Lunch enroute, before arriving at the lodge late in the evening for refreshment, dinner and a nap.

Day 8: Game drive and Ngorongoro crater exploration.

At sunrise, you will great your intestines with a tasty cup of coffee, and then checkout for a transfer to the wild, a territories marked by mammals, plants, birds and reptiles among others. In the 3-4 hour search, chances can enable you come across; a lion, leopards, rhinos, wildebeest, impalas, zebras, buffaloes, African cape buffaloes, elephants, warthogs, and many more, as they graze, hunt or rest.

Thereafter, you will have a lunch break, followed by an exciting crater exploration; the world’s largest caldera. You will enjoy the breathtaking landscape, watch the hiding places of the mammals and take amazing photos among others, before driving back to the lodge for dinner and a nap.

Day 9: Visit Olduvai Gorge and afternoon cultural adventure.

You will partake of your lip-smacking tasty cup of coffee, and the checkout of the lodge for a visit to Olduvai Gorge, a place believed to be where the fossils of the first man to live on earth were found “zingerthrupus”. You will uncover a lot regarding this ancient discovery, before returning to the lodge for Lunch, followed by a 2-3 hour exciting encounter with the Masai warriors or any other Cultural group living around the park.

They will entertain you with stories, dance, and songs, before you return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Feel free to buy the local souvenirs, or even donate to the community programs wherever need be.

Day 10: Departure.

On this day, you will have a lazy breakfast meal, and then depending on your flight departure time, you will checkout of the lodge for a drive to the airport for your flight home/ to the next destination.
