10 Days Rwanda Primates & Masai Mara Safari detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Kigali tour.
On this day, you will be gladly received from the airport by our company representative upon landing. He will brief you about the trip, and enjoy a tasty glass of tea, before getting behind the steering wheel for a Kigali city tour. Kigali city is one of the smartest cities in the Continent of Africa, well light, with security guards in all corners and modern infrastructure. You will visit the Local markets, the genocide memorial site, and any other attraction if time allows, though not forgetting Lunch in the city.
Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe national park.
After breakfast, you will hit the route to Nyungwe forest national park; home to over 13 primate species, with the majority being chimpanzees; Humans closest relatives. You will capture the sight of the rolling hills, scatted homesteads, the Rwandese waving, and a variety of plantations on your way to the park. Lunch will be at Lake Kivu, or anywhere before the park. You will enter the park in the evening for dinner and an overnight nap.
Day 3: Chimp tracking and canopy walk.
Start this day at birds call with a yummy breakfast meal, before heading to the park headquarters for registration and briefing. The park rangers will explain the Chimp life, as well as the tracking rules before accompanying you through the Jungle, where you will encounter several other residents, such as grey-cheeked monkeys, vervet monkeys, Columbus monkeys, and many more, plants and flowers among others.
The chimpanzee trekking adventure lasts for approximately 1-6 hours, plus one additional hour to watch the chimps as the mothers’ breastfeed the infants, and the rest of the family feed, pose for photos and several other unforgettable moments. Afterwards, you will have a lunch break, followed by a canopy walk in the evening, before returning to the park for dinner and a nap.
Day 4: Drive to Volcanoes National Park.
Happily up from a peaceful nap, you will have a satisfying cup of coffee, before departing the lodge for a drive to Volcanoes national park. You will have a smooth drive through flourishing plantations and undulating hills, With a Lunch en-route, as arrival at the lodge will be late in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking and Visiting the Twin lakes.
When you are done enjoying a lovely breakfast meal at the lodge, you will engage in a 1-7 hour Gorilla trekking experience, plus one hour of watching the primates play, relax and feed, after the briefing, and registration. Gorillas are social, living as a family, and led by a dominant silverback, whose role is to settle disputes and offer leadership. You will have a lunch break at the lodge, and then visit the Twin Lakes for refreshment and photography. Dinner and overnight end this day’s plan.
Day 6: A guided nature walk at Sunrise and fly to Nairobi – Kenya through Kigali airport.
The day starts with an amazing 1-2 hour rewarding nature walk, as you uncover the different botanical species, take photos, and embrace the beautiful early sun rays. After you will have energy giving a cup of coffee, before driving to Kigali city for lunch, and then to the airport for your flight back to Nairobi, where you will meet our company representative for a drive to your lodge for refreshment, dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Drive to Masai Mara National Reserve.
After an early morning breakfast meal at the lodge, you will check out of the lodge for a drive to Masai Mara national park; home to a wide range of mammals in the continent of Africa. On your way, there will be an en-route stopover at the magnificent Great Rift Valley for Photography, sightseeing and another stopover for lunch, before enjoying a free 2-3 hour drive through a maram road to your lodge in or around the park. End this day with dinner and a nap.
Day 8: Full day Game drive.
Today after your sumptuous breakfast meal, you will head for a full day rewarding game drive across the wilderness. The residents here that you have a chance of spotting eating, hunting, relaxing or grazing include among others; lions, leopards, zebras, cape buffaloes, elephants, wildebeests, warthogs, Rhinos, and the cheetah among others.
Additionally, birds, the captivating landscape, and plants among others are other attractions to add to the list. You will have a picnic lunch, before exploring the Mara River, infested with hippos and crocodiles and centerpiece during the wildebeest migration. You will return to the lodge at sunset for dinner and overnight.
Day 9: Birding and afternoon Cultural encounter with the Masai warriors.
Today starts with a yummy breakfast meal at the lodge, and then an amazing morning birding experience in the known birding havens. You will spend 3-4 hours studying the bird’s unique characteristics, life, and social setting. Thereafter you will retreat for lunch and then spend the evening having fun, interacting with the locals, and entertained by the Maasai warriors; famous herdsmen whose life is dependent on animal cattle from the olden days.
Day 10: Departure.
Satisfied by the experience and hospitality throughout the holiday, you will have your last breakfast meal at your Lodge in Masai Mara national reserve, before checking out for a return transfer to the airport for your next destination.
