Birding in Kidepo Valley National Park: After Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kidepo Valley National Park is believed to be Uganda’s best bird watching destination. Over 480 bird species have been recorded in the national park, including Somali-Masai biome, savannah species, forest species, and migratory bird species.
Kidepo Valley National Park is located in Kaabong district in northeastern Uganda, between Uganda’s borders with South Sudan and Kenya. Elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, elands, oribi, Jackson’s hartebeest, zebras, and jackals are among the wildlife species found in Kidepo Valley National Park.

Birding in Kidepo Valley National Park is possible all year, but the best time to visit is during the rainy season, from March to April and November to February, because that is when bird lovers can see colorful and migratory bird species.

Game drives
Kidepo Valley National Park is Uganda’s wildest national park, with breathtaking savannah landscapes and boundless vistas of the horizon. It is located in north-eastern Uganda in the Karamoja region. Because it is one of Uganda’s less visited national parks, you have the sense of having the entire park to yourself. Kidepo Valley National Park was recently ranked the third-best National Park in Africa by CNN due to its distinctiveness and stunning nature. Many elephants, giraffes, buffalos, lions, oribi, hyenas, baboons, antelopes, warthogs, jackals, and innumerable savannah birds can be seen on guided game drives. Kidepo is Uganda’s only national park where you can also observe cheetahs.
Climbing Mountain Morungole
This activity is led by IK staff who are more familiar with the animals in this area of the park. Trekking and hiking through varying nature and rocky terrain with spectacular views of the park are involved. The IK people usually entertain tourists with various dances, their unique migration history, their life, and many other things.
Nature Walks
This can be done at any time of day around Apoka Camp, and tourists can expect to see a variety of wildlife such as Elephants, Reedbuck, Zebra, and a few others that have not been mentioned. These are best in the morning because tourists can observe the animals closely as they hunt for food.
