10 Days Uganda Rwanda Safari

The 10 Days Uganda Rwanda safari is the best package to explore the beauty of Uganda and Rwanda on the same trip. This safari starts in Entebbe/Kampala Uganda ending in Kigali, Rwanda.

10 Days Uganda Rwanda Safari itinerary 

Day 1: Pick up & transfer to Kibale Forest.

Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, meet your driver guide from our company, have a brief guide through the itinerary and set-off to Kibale National park.

You will have a stop over at Nakayima tree where locals perform rituals. You will have lunch enroute in Fort Portal city, the cleanest and tourism city of Uganda, which hosts the Omukama’s palace. In the evening proceed to Kibale Forest National park, the primate capital of Africa.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking

It’s a great day for visiting the endangered chimpanzees! After a hot cup of coffee, get your packed lunch and transfer to Kanyanchu Visitor information Centre to attend a brief session regarding trekking dos and don’ts regarding chimpanzee trekking adventure.

Chimpanzee trekking starts at 8:30am lasting for 30 minutes to seven hours depending on the location of chimpanzees and the nature of terrain on that day.

Pay attention to the loud hoots, laughs and shouts of chimpanzees from a distance which will give you clear direction on which trail to follow. Kibale Forest is home to the highest population of primates in the whole of Africa, up to 13 species of different primates.

You will meet other resident primates in the forest such as red colobus monkeys, black and white tailed monkeys, baboons, vervet monkeys and blue monkeys among others

Day 3: Nature walk & transfer Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, have a guided Forest /nature to explore Kibale Forest on foot. Enjoy the sweet melodies of birds singing up in the trees. A nature walk also gives you chance to see other primates especially monkeys in the forest.

In the afternoon, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s second largest National park

Day 4: Game Viewing & Boat cruise

In the early morning, transfer to the open plains of Queen Elizabeth Park for morning game drives.  You will see a variety of wild animals including Hippos, elephants, Waterbucks, Buffaloes, Elands, Lions, Uganda kobs, and Topis feeding in the open savannahs.

Return to the lodge for late breakfast and wait for hot lunch. In the afternoon, take on a leisurely boat trip along Kazinga channel, connecting Lakes George and Edward. Enjoy this 2 hours cruise with great views o birds and wild animals at the riverbanks, neighboring fishing villages and wild animals feeding in the park.

Day 5: Ishasha sector- Transfer to Bwindi Forest

After a lovely breakfast, check out of the lodge in central Queen Elizabeth N/park and proceed on a morning game viewing safari through to Ishasha sector, south of Queen Elizabeth national park and an important habitat for the elusive tree climbing lions.

Look out up in the fig and acacia trees for climbing lions resting lazily and others feasting on their preys. Drive out of the park and proceed with your journey to Bwindi Forest via local communities, gardens and trading centers of Kihiihi and Buhoma, north of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Day 6: Mountain Gorilla Trekking – Buhoma sector.

Rise up at around 6:30am, take a delicious breakfast and drive straight to the Buhoma park headquarters in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Register and attend a pre-trek briefing session regarding guidelines and regulations of this popular adventure. At about 8:30am, you will be done with briefing and immediately embark on a hike to meet the allocated gorilla family.

The hike up and down hill is strenuous but the magical feeling of meeting face to face with the gorillas is worthy it. You will be allowed to send an hour with gorillas, take pictures, capture videos and enjoy their human like characters.  Thereafter, hike back, meet your driver guide and transfer to the lodge. If time allows, you may visit local communities adjacent to the park

Day 7: Transfer to Volcanoes National park

Enjoy your morning sleep, wakeup to have a hot cup of coffee on the sweet morning sunrise. Thereafter, check out and transfer to Katuna border. Clear with the immigration and proceed on your drive southwestwards to Volcanoes National park Rwanda based in Musanze district. The park shelters the highest number of mountain gorillas in the Virunga Conservation Area.

Day 8: 2nd Gorilla trekking in PNV.

Morning tea will be served at about 6:30am, in preparation for another highlight; thereafter, join our safari driver and transfer to Kinigi Park headquarters where you will join other park visitors. Register with the park officials and go for a pre-gorilla trek briefing session. You will be organized within groups of eight and each allocated to a specific gorilla group. The hike to meet gorillas starts at 8:00am, which may last for up to 7 hours, though most families can be seen within just an hour.

After meeting mountain gorillas, spend an hour in their company, enjoy their social life and embrace their human-like characters. During your search for mountain gorillas, you may meet other wild animals in the forest, golden monkeys, forest elephants, baboons, blue and white monkeys plus so much more bird species.

Day 9: Golden Monkey trekking/Dian Fossey hike – Iby’iwacu cultural Village.

Today you have optional golden monkey trekking or Dian Fossey graveyard hike plus a visit to Ibyiwacu cultural village. Have an early morning cup of coffee and transfer to Kinigi Park headquarters for briefing and briefing.

Choose between golden monkey trekking and Dian Fossey graveyard hike. In the afternoon, visit the Iby’iwacu cultural village to learn and experience Rwanda’s customs, vibrant dances, traditions and special norms.

Day 10: Departure

After having a relaxed sunrise breakfast, check out and drive to Kigali. Have a brief tour in Kigali city; visit some tourist destinations in the city Centre such as the Kigali Convention Centre, Kandt house museum, Kigali art museum and the famous Kigali Genocide Memorial Center, as well as many local markets. Thereafter, drive to Kigali airport for your return flight. This will mark the end of your 10 Days Uganda Rwanda Safari.
