It takes 5-6 hours to reach this region while crossing the fascinating water bodies, plantations, and magical Jinja cable bridge. Mountain Elgon is recognized for having the widest caldera on earth and the fourth highest mountain in East Africa; it is located in Eastern Uganda and some parts of Kenya.
The same mount Elgon acts as home to the great Sipi falls, gorges, hot springs, caves, and many more interesting features. The trip starts and ends in Kampala or Entebbe depending on your choice.
Day 1: Pick up and drive to Mount Elgon National Park
After breakfast, our expert guide will brief you about the 3days tour that covers Mount Elgon and sippi falls, thereafter, he will hit the road to Eastern Uganda, driving through the traffic filled highway via Mukono; have a good glimpse of the natural Mabira forest, Kakira sugarcane plantations, the rice plantations and magically suspended Jinja Bridge on the river Nile.
You will be enjoying lots of snacks as the 5-6-hour journey progresses till the park in Mbale. Arrive in the afternoon for late lunch then proceed for a guided walk for approximately 1-2 hours. Thereafter, check-in to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Mountain Hiking and Sipi falls tour
Wake up early in the morning for a hefty cup of coffee, then head to the trailhead to commence with the hiking exercise; the hike will expose you to the beautiful plantations, the sweet melodies of birds and if you become lucky, you will spot a few primates playing, as you proceed with the hike to magical Sipi falls.
You will sight three different waterfalls at the same place, a few caves and very unique sceneries spread across the area. As part of the fun, feel free to take photos, take a cold birth and cold swim before heading to the lodge for some refreshment, dinner then slumber at will as you wait for the next day’s departure.
Day 3: Depart Sipi falls for Kampala/ Entebbe
When the sun’s rays wake you up from the deep slumber, startup the day with a cup of coffee before you get to the road for yet a return journey from a successful unforgettable experience.
This journey will have a stopover in Jinja as you take a boat trip to explore the source of R. Nile as well as having lunch before you proceed with the journey to either your accommodation or direct to the airport for a return journey.
