The tour will reward you with the beauty of Rwenzori for just a day and you take a nature walk in the montane thick forests that are supported by the flowing rivers like river Nyamwambwa. This will enable you to spot several primates such as Angola colobus monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys and if you are lucky, you will spot chimpanzees.
Rwenzori mountains national park is situated in Kasese district western Uganda, at the border of Uganda and DR Congo. The park harbours over 70 mammal species such as elephants, Rwenzori otter, leopards, primates such as the chimpanzees, Angola colobus monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys also over 217 bird species and includes various Albertine rift endemics such as Ruwenzori turacos, golden-winged sunbird among others.
The hike will start in the morning after a cup of tea at the hotel and head to Nyakalengija park offices for briefing. You will be assigned with the park ranger guide who will lead you into the mountain passing via montane forest using Kilembe route.
The trek will enable you to spot different primates like Angola colobus monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, different bird species such as Ruwenzori turacos, golden-winged sunbird, slender-billed starling, among others.
Also, you will cross several rivers that reward you with beautiful scenery and proceed to Nyamwanba with a magnificent forest as you spot chimp nests on top of tree branches. Afterwards, you will return to the lodge/hotel after a 3-4 hours Rwenzori mountain hike/walk.
