This 1-day tour will take you to the most wilderness and beautiful national park in Uganda Murchison falls best known for harbouring the 4 of the big five family, plus the Rhinos in the nearby Ziwa Rhino sanctuary; others are lions, elephants, buffaloes and leopards.
You will have an optional stopover at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for rhino trekking (if time allows) and enroute lunch at Kabalega diners. Therefore, the tour will reward you with a great experience to view the big five animals and world’s strongest waterfalls along the river Nile. This excursion begins and ends in Kampala.
You will be picked at the hotel by the tour driver guide from our company after your early morning breakfast. He will brief you and straight away head to a road trip to Ziwa Rhino and wildlife sanctuary, a journey that takes 5 to 6 hours.
You will pass via Luwero and buy some fresh fruits such as mangoes, passion fruits, yellow bananas among others. Also be told about the Luwero triangle where the liberation wars of late 1970 and early 1980 took place.
Have an optional stopover at Ziwa rhino sanctuary for Rhino trekking. Trekking is done by walking and it can take only 2 hours. Proceed with the journey to Murchison falls NP after lunch at Kabalega’s Dinner, to catch up with a boat cruise along River Nile.
On the arrival, you will head for an afternoon boat trip and here you will enjoy a number of animals such as crocodiles, hippos, buffalos among others and also the Nile is also a birds’ heaven with species such as white-thighed hornbill, pied kingfisher, dwarf kingfisher, malachite kingfisher, the great blue turaco, storks, Africa skimmers, Goliath heron, and several migratory species.
The guide will show you the site where Ernest Hemingway’s aeroplane crash landed while on his maiden tour to Uganda in 1960s.
Continue with the boat till you reach the bottom of Murchison falls where you can vividly sight the roaring falls from a distance, providing great opportunity for beautiful photos. At the bottom of the Murchison falls, you will get off the boat and join a ranger guide who will lead you through a 30 – 45 minutes’ nature walk across a rocky hill that overlooks the Murchison falls.
The hike takes you to the upper most top of the falls where you are able to see and photograph both Murchison falls and Uhuru falls (the sister falls that were formed by heavy rains in 1962).
Your driver guide will meet you at the top of the waterfalls and drive you back to Kampala.
